Aviatech FAPS is situated at Potchefstroom Airfield, a former Airforce training base with 1800m x 30m hard-surfaced and a 900m x 60m grass runway. The runway is equipped with lights for night flying and training. FAPS is situated just outside the busy Johannesburg TMA, with several regional and international airports just a short hop away.
Because of the low traffic levels, students can get airborne quicker, have more time to practice, develop their skills and become a better pilot.
Aviatech FAPS has a range of student accommodation available. For the single student on a short visit, there is a range of guest houses available.
For groups on full-time training, we provide fully furnished and serviced student accommodation. Two meals per day, lunch and dinner, can be provided and we can cater for special dietary needs.
A vehicle and driver are dedicated to the students for transport, to and from the airport, daily. All other facilities such as shops, movie theatres and gyms are situated within walking distance.
Potchefstroom is a tertiary education hub in South Africa with a university, several colleges and other training facilities (agricultural, sport, technical and military). Potchefstroom is also the off-season training base for several international athletes including the Spanish football team, the Australian cricket team and numerous Olympic athletes.
